Fijian Rum 2014 Tasting Notes
Picture this: A gentle nudge from a horse in the stables asking for an apple from the rubber trugs outside, waiting to be turned into crumbles or baked with cloves and sultanas but at least one can be spared for the apple-loving horse.
Neat, without water
Colour: Apple Juice.
Nose: Apples galore! Apple snow, toffee apples in a cardboard box, Calvados, medium cider, rubber trugs full of ripe apples and baked apples with cloves and sultanas in ginger syrup smoking in a copper pan on the hob.
Palate: Creamy and smooth mouthfeel, cloves, banana pancakes cooking on a griddle, echinacea and rubber.
Finish: Rubber mats, warm banana pancakes topped with vanilla cream.
With a few drops of water
Nose: Roast pork with sage and apple sauce, apple strudel, apple turnover, apple and
cinnamon crumble, strawberry laces, fresh burnt rubber tyre tracks in bitumen, peanuts, cashew nuts and coconut oil.
Palate: Stewed apples with cinnamon, plus banana fritters, brioche with vanilla cream, and rubber trousers.
Finish: Cream poured over banana fritters.
Overall: Let's hear it for the apples! A fabulously fruit tot with apple esters. One to sit with for hours.
